Monday #1

Home again, home again! Lin is safely in her own bed with Chicklet snuggled beside her. Still having a bit of nausea, but we have drugs for that. All her numbers are stable so the docs felt it was safe to release her.

Many thanks to our in-hospital friend, Debbie, for showering Lin with sherbet, cookies and chocolate milk!

Sunday #1

The medicos have decided to keep Lin until tomorrow. This is a good thing. Caution is the name of the game when dealing with her body's recovery. And they are giving her real food. And she's rented a tv and can watch the Masters.

Saturday #1

A very good day so far. WBC count and creatinine trending down. The hematoma seems to be shrinking. No nausea to speak of. Docs are saying she can come home tomorrow. YEA!!!  We had a wee sit outside when it was sunny and warm.

Friday #4

Just home from the hospital. Lin is in relatively good spirits, knowing what is happening in her body (she really does have such complicated insides). She's hoping for a quiet day tomorrow, but would love to hear from her peeps via phone or message or email.

Night, night, sleep tight (especially the crib players!)

Friday #3

CT scan showed what looks like a hematoma in Lin's left lower abdomen, could have been caused by the overlapping transitioning from heparin to tinzaperin to warfarin. These bleeds usually dissolve on their own (however, you avid readers of this blog will remember that old blood just sitting in there is a breeding ground for infection). Lin will be in the hospital for 3-5 days while they closely monitor her. No plan to insert a drain as yet. Wish they would put her on a precautionary antibiotic dose. Doc was amazed that Lin was NOT in more pain. So much for this morning's nurse assuring me she just had the flu.

Friday #2

Okay. Nausea seems to have been controlled by multiple drugs, no more vomiting. WBC count up a bit, but no fever, NPO until they figure this out, creatinine down from last week...very good! Still waiting on results from CT scan. She's looking and sounding better. Thanks to Tracy for cuddling Chicklet!!! Remember the motto...we're tough old......
We'll keep you posted.

Friday #1 (Vernon Jubilee)

And the adventure continues. This is feeling eerily like 6 years ago, only compacted in terms of time. Lin started feeling very nauseous and vomiting around 3:00 this morning. We came to the hospital at 4:30. They pumped her full of saline solution (to prevent dehydration) and started a multiple round of stomach meds (gravel, maxeran, zofran) to try to quell the nausea which finally calmed down around noon. An X-ray showed NO blockages, thank goodness. Our Dr Jean has been in to see her. She's been admitted and is scheduled for a CT scan soon. No vomiting since 11:00, but still nauseous. We'll keep you posted.
